The toric monthly AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde for Astigmatism lenses from Alcon provide sharp vision and long-lasting comfort for people with astigmatism. Thanks to the Precision Balance 8|4 design, they offer stable visual acuity throughout the day with no warping. The contact lenses are made of a breathable silicone hydrogel material, which offers the wearer an unrestricted wearing time thanks to the excellent oxygen supply. The AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde for Astigmatism lens is also particularly suitable for dry eyes, as the HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix offers a major advantage over the “old” AIR OPTIX for Astigmatism. It ensures a consistently moist contact lens. With the SmartShield technology, the contact lenses are effectively protected against deposits, which further increases wearing comfort and supports the longevity of the lenses.
In addition to their excellent oxygen permeability, the AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde for Astigmatism lenses are distinguished by the HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix. This is an innovative surface coating that enables a consistent supply of moisture. HydraGlyde is a surface-active polymer. One side is attracted to the silicone of the contact lens and adheres to it. The other side is hydrophilic and therefore attracts water. Moisture is anchored to the lens surface. Friction is reduced, and the contact lenses are prevented from drying out.
Like all AIR OPTIX contact lenses, AIR OPTIX plus HydraGlyde for Astigmatism lenses are equipped with an ultra-thin protective shield. The SmartShield technology prevents the formation of deposits, especially lipid deposits (fats) that are contained in the natural tear fluid. Lipid deposits can quickly lead to dry contact lenses and blurred vision in monthly and weekly lenses.
