Enjoy relaxed vision from close-up or far away with an unbeatable degree of comfort: that’s exactly the goal which Bausch & Lomb have set themselves by developing their monthly contact lens ULTRA for Presbyopia. Featuring a carefully designed 3-zone progressive lens, the Ultra for Presbyopia works like a pair of varifocals to ensure sharp vision on mobile phones, PCs and also while driving. An innovative silicone hydrogel material with MoistureSeal technology ensures moist contact lenses even after 16 hours of wear. This technology blends a unique silicone material with water-retaining molecules, maintaining 95% moisture levels throughout the day. The special silicone hydrogel guarantees perfect oxygen supply and thereby prevents dry, red eyes.
An altered short-range vision is no reason to do without contact lenses. With progressive contact lenses such as ULTRA for Presbyopia, you will be able to clearly see your mobile phone screen again without needing to look for your glasses, and the text on your computer screen is easily legible without having to strain your neck. The 3-zone Progressive Design has been adapted to the needs in our digital lifestyle. For sharp distance vision, it offers a high degree of visual comfort for medium to close distances. The vision zones in the contact lenses have been adapted to smaller pupil sizes that occur in old age. These three zones provide a smooth transition between visual ranges. This same design is being successfully applied to the Biotrue ONEday for Presbyopia daily disposable contact lenses.
Two essential conditions ensure that the MoistureSeal technology makes Ultra for Presbyopia retain moisture for up to 16 hours, and thereby making it uniquely gentle. On the one hand, there is a special silicone material. This consists of long and short chains, therefore reducing the amount of silicone and allows more water to be retained. In turn, this makes the contact lenses even softer. On the other hand, up to four times more PVP molecules (polyvinylpyrrolidone) are bonded to the silicone. PVP binds and retains moisture in the material. This is especially helpful for dry eyes.
With the ULTRA for Presbyopia, eyes get the oxygen they need even during daily wear. Owing to the special combination of short and long silicone chains, a maximum amount of oxygen flows through the contact lens at a low silicone content in the material. The result is a soft and ultra-comfortable contact lens with full oxygen supply.
